El Toro defeated Badger Juice by a score of 6-3 before a crowd of 53 fans at the YMCA in Flushing. It was a beautiful evening and the Bulls would get off to a good start by maintaining possession and producing some early scoring chances. However, in 15th minute, El Toro defender Mikey "Twin 2" Farrar was caught climbing the back an opponent and Badger Juice was awarded a penalty kick. Badger Juice converted the kick and took an early 1-0 lead. El Toro got a little unnerved by the penalty and began to unravel. Badger Juice took advantage and made the score 2-0 after connecting on a direct kick just outside the penalty box after a foul by El Toro's Brad "Twin 1" Farrar.
Moments later, in an effort to protect his players and inspire his team, Coach Rick Bridgett was sent off after repeatedly referring to the referee as an "idiot." In Coach Bridgett's defense, the referee did provoke and antagonize him. Regardless, the Bulls were now down two goals and without a coach. The pressure was on.
Still trying to right the ship, El Toro was able to generate some momentum. In the 29th minute, Chris Hallstrand played a ball to the feet of Paul Vance who took his man on in the penalty area. Just as Vance was making his move he was viciously taken down in the box and El Toro was award the PK. Designated penalty-kick specialist Andy Zinn stepped up to the spot and buried it home to make the score 2-1. With momentum now in its favor, and whining to the referee at a minimum, El Toro mounted a string of possession which ended in a goal from Mike Vance. Predictably, the play started off the feet of Tom "Crybaby" Beaubien. El Toro would then take the lead in the 35th minute when Rob "Crazy Legs" Roney went sky high to head in a nice cross from Beaubien. The El Toro lead was short lived, however, as a defensive miscommunication would allow Badger Juice to knot the score at 3 just before the half.
The second half was all El Toro. Despite the fact Coach Bridgett was not present to make sure the usual offenders do not hog all the playing time, El Toro was able to stay composed and finish their chances. Rickey McQueary drilled a brilliant left footed (non-toe ball) shot in the 57th minute as El Toro would take a 4-3 lead and never look back. Mike Vance notched his second goal 10 minutes later to provide a comfortable two goal lead. Rounding out the scoring was Andy Toth who hammered one home after a few brilliant moves from McQueary.
Final score: El Toro 6 - Badger Juice 3. The El Toro defense should also be commended for its stellar play in the second half, particularly that of the Farrar Twins and Paul "Tasmanian Devil" Simpson. The second half proved to be a dominating performance by the Bulls. El Toro will look forward to the weekend off and will not resume play until July 16.

It has been too long for me to remember our game vs. Badger Juice w/ complete recognition, but i will try. We definately started well, controlling the game with deft touches & passing, but as usuall we couldn't finish!!!! Two poor mistakes by the Farrar Bros. cost us dearly in the 1st 20 minutes! 2-0 BADGER JUICE!
Rick McQeary ordered a team meeting after the 2nd goal in the middle of the pitch! Telling the young guys not to worry that we've been here b4, but just step it up.....& the Bulls did. A quick studder from P. Vizzle in the box & an AZ pk (1-2), a steady build up w/ a McQuick drop to Mr. Upper 90 (2-2), and a brilliantly driven cross by The Crybaby to Roney for a quick 3-2 lead! The McQueary talk w/ Coach getting sent off turn the tables. A Poor header by Roney in the back (why was he there? covering 4 Beaubien) gave the Wisconsin team a game-tying breakaway just before half.
That was the only bump in the road after a quick 2-0 defecit. The 2nd half was all Bulls! With a controled passing attack, pressure on the ball, and a tightening of the defense, arrival of The Tazmanian Terror (alliteration), El Toro dominated play! Chances came in abundance. MIA Grigsby hit the bar from 2 yds. after a great pass by Killian w/ Mr. 90 finishing on the rebound. Fab layed beautiful balls all around the park while getting a chance @ center-mid w/ The Fat Man taking a break (also hit the bar). P. Vance gave Hallstrand a couple of chances but he just cannot get off the scoring schnide (has got the M.VIZZIES). McQueary then took the team scoring lead w/ a great left footed cracker after a nice header from Roney. Defender Toth finished the scoring after a nice 1 v 1 move by McQueary on the sideline, Bulls 6 Badger Juice 3! The youngsters had nothing for the old guys.
