The Michigan United Soccer League (MUSL) runs an Over 30 league. I played in a few games for a team last year. Very professionally run organization. Each team has their own field (much like old CMSL). Season starts in April continues through June, then they take a break and finish the season with games in September and October. If you play in the league you automatically qualify for a few cups as well. I suggest we seriously think about getting a team in the league for next season. Would probably need a club vote to make such a move. Is there a team meeting anytime soon? We probably should have one before we start the summer season.
More information on the MUSL is also here: http://images.leaguerepublic.com/datacms/site5170816/user/documents/MUSL%20Rules.pdf

I am mosdef up for a change in league and in teams we play. We play same shitty team 5/6 x's a yr and it is hard to get up for a game when u know u 've beaten them 18 x's in a row. I want to move!! I will set up a meeting, couple changes in team maybe and it would be nice to get uni's!!!
Would love to do something different. A word of caution travel weekly is can creat more than a few headaches. How many of us work weekends, where would we play, etc. Plus as I remember this league has multiple divisions, which would we start in ? Finally, better get a reliable second goalie as the old guy might be around much longer for a variety of reasons. Having given all the potential pitfalls, I would love to give it another go round. Geoff
I think you play 7 road games, 7 home games. Scott school would be the best home site. New teams start in the lowest division and work their way up. The lowest division probably is a lot like the Fieldhouse, minus Cash Now and maybe a few other teams. We should only play in this league if we got a commitment from a lot of players. Of course, things are going to come up whether it be work, kids, etc....the key is having enough players to field a full squad even when some guys can't make it.
there are plenty of alternatives, i personally would love to play in this league. If there are plenty of members that dont want to join for whatever, I will take upon myself to get my own team in the MUSL, using many of the FSSC players. I garuntee there are more than a few guys that would want to play both, considering they dont really overlap, if at all. We are obviously a long time away, but is something that we should be thinking about. I will have a team in MUSL regardless, just hope my hommies from FSSC would like to come.
Listen, this all stems from that fact that The Gen Fieldhouse has a monopoly on the soccer in Gen County and they dont really care how things are run. They say they care and would like to have it right, but never do. Horrible refs & only 2, consistant INCONSISTANCY on rules and how they are interpreted, allowing players and teams in the league that have been permanently booted for various reasons, trying to figure out which best suits the Gen Fieldhouse in regards to THEIR $$ (i know business ut is it over 30 or under or what?) and the most recent is policing the teams and who plays on each team!!! Why should i have to know the 15 man roster for each team we play against, they know who is on each team and allow it unless u question it!! Steve specifically sat and watched our game vs. OMS, I mean BUD, allowing a player to play from an opposing team. WTF, i had to say that "I am questioning Tom Cole as a player" to get him to get him off the field. I am sick of it and taking my business elsewhere! Fuck them and this shit league anyway, how fun is it to play these busters year after year? It is funny how they always seem to allow these things to happen to us, maybe they figure since we mostly win, we dont care! WELL I'M DONE!
I really miss playing travel and would be willing to make this move. I think be a fun alternative for outdoor. Don't what they do during the indoor period. Let's make it happen. Geoff
Well, I just went to the MUSL website and entered our info for the over 30 division as new team. I recognized a couple of teams, Carpathia Kickers and UK Royals. I will let you know if they call or email me. Geoff
Thanks Geoff....might be a little too late for this season but who knows. Can you contact Bridgett and set up a team (or board of directors) meeting to discuss this and as well as other issues to make sure FSSC will continue to be around for years to come. Let me know.
Paul
Well guys, I spoke to the league president and we can start play on May 23rd. The cost per player would be $75 per player, more if we don't have any $ in the kitty. We have missed the first 2 games and might make those up if the is an issue of progression. We would start in the 5th division as all new teams do. I gave him a rundown on our club's history and suggested he speak with Gerhard Mengel to verify what I've said. Guys this would be fun, but only if we can get a commitment from 20 players. Please come sunday ready to talk about this or call Chris (The Big Platini) or Mike Vance. We would need to $25 each right now to register. Geoff
