After a grueling 10 game season, the summer season ended with two well played games on Sunday, August 16th.
The Men's Open Championship was played between Aces Full vs the "surprising up starts" Sedgewick Architects. After a scoreless first half, Aces Full came out and scored a couple of goals to comfortably take the lead for the remainder of the game finishing it off in fine fashion 3-1. A valiant effort by Sedgewick, who should be commended on their playoff run, after a tough league season. Great job Aces Full!
Our Men's 30+ Championship was a tough and gritty match, pitting two long-time rivals in Genesee County; El Toro who knocked off a very tough Budweiser team vs. Cash Now who squeaked out a win against FOGS in the semi-finals. Cash Now scored 15 minutes into the game giving them a commanding 1-0 lead, which usually is enough to carry them on to a win. However, with both teams missing their star goalies this game was a little different. El Toro who at times has struggled to score goals against the elite teams, was able to break through by scoring 4 un-answered goals to take the championship 4 -1. A good, clean game was played by all. Thank you gentlemen for providing such an action packed game. Here are the champions of the past 3 years:
2007 - El Toro beating Cash Now
2008 - Cash Now beating Budweiser
2009 - El Toro beating Cash Now
We hope all of you enjoyed the season as much as we did. We look forward to seeing you in our Fall and our Winter Indoor Sessions.
