After a sluggish start to the first two games of the season, El Toro was determined to get off to a better start against Dark Fogs. And the Bulls did just that, scoring the games first goal a mere 10 minutes into the first half. After a nice build-up that started in the back, Mike Vance played a through ball to his brother Paul, who dribbled the ball to the end line and dropped it back for a streaking Ricky "Toe Ball" McQueary. McQueary buried the shot to make it 1-0. Unfortunately, El Toro got complacent after its first goal. The Bulls created some chances but failed to capitalize and the first half ended 1-0.
Coach Rick Bridgett delivered his halftime speech like mail on a Friday - hard and quick. Imploring his team to attack and stay organized, Coach Bridgett rallied the troops for a second half surge. Mere minutes into the second half, Chris "I used to be skinny" Hallstrand was played a brilliant through ball. After sprinting to catch up to the ball, Hallstrand was able to gather it, take a touch and fire a brilliant cross to Fabian "Coco Sauce" Villarreal inside the six yard box. Fab left no doubts, making the score 2-0. Game over.
El Toro's defense was stingy as ever as the Farrar twins and Paul Simpson dominated in the back and distributed the ball with ease. In the 55th minute, LaJuan Grigsby put El Toro up 3-0 after a nice individual effort. Minutes later, Andy Zinn, El Toro's hybrid Stopper/Forward, scored after receiving a pass from M. Vance. This marks Zinn's first goal of the season. Grigsby notched his second goal of the game after McQueary and Pat Killian played a simple give and go. El Toro was now up by a score of 5-0.
With a hefty lead, the El Toro defense got involved in the attack when Dave Rawls made a timely run up the left flank. The ball was played wide to Rawls who took a few deft touches before slotting the ball to Mike Vance for shot from the top of the 18 yard box, beating the keeper to his left. Not to be outdone, Zinn continued to push forward and got on the end of nice cross by McQueary to score the final goal of the game. El Toro 7, Dark Fogs 0.
Another stellar performance was turned in by the El Toro back line of the Farrar twins and Paul Simpson (along with help from Andy Toth and Dave Rawls). Although rarely tested, ageless keeper Jeff Gayle was very solid between the pipes. Tom "Crybaby" Beaubien kept his whining to a minimum and was able to turn in a fine performance in the central midfield by helping to control the pace of the game. A very solid effort all the way around for undefeated El Toro.

The Pessimist is top-notch w/ his insight & witted analysis of the El Toro game as expected! El Toro started quickly & faded into halftime w/out taking advantage of numerous quality (2 Q-words in 1 sentence)scoring opportunities, leading 1-0! WE NEED FINISHERS! Ricky "horr(I-TOE)ble" McQueary slotted the ball past a diving D Fogg keeper from the 12 for El Toro's only 1st half goal. The disgruntled Vance Bros. linked up nicely through the midfield w/ Paul laying a soft ball back from the endline to McQueary for the finish. Though frustrating, El Toro really dominated in chances, pace of play, & posession of ball & pitch.
The 2nd half brought w/ it many more positives! 1st, AZ slid a beautiful ball to the fat man (who by the way has a standing invitation 4 the crybaby to race!) into open space where eventually he drove it to Fab for a FABulous finish. Fab is the only Bull to score in every game this season, so keep it up!!! Also, the Farrar Bros. seem to get more comfortable together w/ each game. They along w/ Paul Simpson & the Bulls other defenders can all be counted on for air-tight marking, making life easy 4 Geoff & Andy (Rob N. who?). MIA forward, LaJuan Grigsby came off the 15-day DL(hysterectomy) to score 2 goals in his 1st game in months. Pat Killian played (1 shift in 1st half) the outside half the way it's supposed to be played. Having width, covering Mikey Farrar's overlapping runs, & whipping in beautiful balls from the sideline, Pat created plenty of scoring chances. Good job! The El Toro midfield really knocked it around great 2nit, switching fields & making the easy pass, which should happen more.
There are some other things worthy of talking about too. The braggart Andy Zinn, boasting of his 2 goal performance, quickly to be shot down by Coach Bridgett's quote "You should've! You made 25 runs!" The CRYBABY II award goes to MR. Roney for walking out like a biatch. I'm just busting your balls Robbie, we're glad to have you back! If there are going to be 18 guys @ the game, playing time might not be as fair as you want it to be.........but you have to understand who comes to play every week, who doesn't need to be yelled @ to come out (tired or not), who pays their $ on time & all @ once, & MOST OF ALL--IF YOU'RE NOT RUNNING, GET THE FUCK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We don't play for 10 days, rest ur wounds & in my case lose 7 lbs! Everyone have a great 4th of July weekend & I will try 2 get those pictures that Tony Vance so graciously took for me up & online!
